My Amazing Umrah,
ma sha Allah!

Alhamdolillah. All praise is for Allah, Who permitted His slave to travel across the earth, Who provided for him who had no means and no power of his own. May He Forgive the mistakes of His slave and reduce the harm of them. And may He be pleased with His slave, and increase the good of his good deeds. Ameen.

The Holy Masjid in Makkah, no place holier! Picture from Hajj 1426 (January, 2006)

did someone say sweet?

Alhamdolillah, some dishes are sweeter depending on how they are served. Take kheer, for example. Kheer is a desi rice pudding, and it's always good, alhamdolillah (at least when it's well made).

But somehow, if kheer is served at a wedding in Pakistan in these clay bowls, something happens. I'm not talking about how the bowls are stacked -- with one upside-down over the other so as to keep out flies and kids' fingers. Nor how the hang-time of these dishes approaches infinity -- none of the contents of the up-ended dishes will spill out!

No, it's the fact that nothing will taste better that night than the kheer in that dish. Alhamdolillah.
